Luban stool

A friend of mine who is a talented maker, introduced me to this video of an old craftsman in China, who crafts a complicated folding stool out of a single block of wood. The joinery and cuts were so simple yet brilliant. I was inspired to study the stool and make the same out of a slab of Ghana teak. Along the process, online research of videos and articles showed that this design and many others were possibly created by Lu Ban, a Chinese woodworker [507BCE - 444BCE]. The process of making this stool contained challenges and joys. The learning and satisfaction by the end was worth the labor. Errors were made along the way and I did my best to resolve those.
